Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Robert Nauseb has urged the Soweto giants to make a move for a striker who he believes can become the next Peter Shalulile.

Nehemia Lenin Ndengu in the man’s name. He actually plays for Shalulile’s former club, Tura Magic. Since leaving Namibia, Shalulile has established himself as one of the finest strikers in the country with two DStv Premiership Golden Boot awards.

Shalulile bagged 23 goals and five assists last season in a stunning personal campaign.

Ex-Chiefs man Nauseb, who was at the club from 1997-2001, has urged Kaizer Motaung Junior to have a closer look at Ndengu, who he believes is good enough to star for Amakhosi.

“There is a striker that I saw here but he plays for another club. I want to take him to [Kaizer] Chiefs.

“That boy for me will be the next Peter Shalulile. He has similar attributes. The speed and everything,” Nauseb told This Is Football.

“The only difference between him and Peter is that Peter is a hard worker. But he’s got goals in him. I saw him here and he just started playing in the Premier League and he’s only 23 years old.

“I saw him playing for the same team that Peter used to play for [Tura Magic].

“I’m trying to find out who the player’s agent is before I try and do something with [Kaizer Motaung] Junior. They can have a look at the boy and then take it from there.

“I’m looking at four years back and the boy was 19 years old so he has lost four years of his development in football,” he continued.

Ndengu isn’t in the fold for the Namibian national team yet, interestingly. Perhaps he’s a late bloomer? The again, it’s silly season and perhaps we should be taking this with a pinch of salt.

It’s public knowledge that Chiefs are looking to sign a striker to supplement their current options in that department.

Currently, those are just Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Ashley Du Preez. Chiefs have been persistently linked with a move for Golden Arrows man Pule Mmodi, but his agent has recently poured cold water on that.
