Kaizer Chiefs and Njabulo Blom saga is believed to be nearing an end, with both parties seemingly edging closer to a new agreement.
Blom’s current deal with Chiefs was set to expire at the end of the current season and that naturally presented plenty of concern for their faithful.
Blom has been one of the rare success cases at Chiefs in recent years, of a player coming through all the age groups of their junior ranks, and becoming a key first team player.
The versatile star started his first team career at the club being deployed on the either of the full back positions by former coach Ernst Middendorp.
He was later moved into central midfield by another former coach Gavin Hunt, in what was arguably his breakthrough season.
Now under current coach Arthur Zwane, who oversaw a great deal of his development, the player has played extensively as both a right back and a central midfielder.
But after a rocky start at right back, Blom was dropped in favour of Dillon Solomons. He then emerged as a midfielder again and has not looked back since, notching up a string of sterling performances, which saw him earn his first call up to the Bafana Bafana squad as a midfielder most recently.
Now despite all of this positive progress at Chiefs, it was rumoured that Blom was edging ever so closer to an exit from the club.
This was in the wake of his agent Rob Moore, hitting out at the club management for not being willing to pay the 22-year-old what they believe he is worth, for a contract renewal.
He is approaching the final six months of his current deal and would be in a position to sign for a club of his choice should an agreement fail to materialise with his current employers.
It was also rumoured that both SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns were monitoring the situation between Blom and Chiefs. But now, if the latest information is anything to go by, they will not be required to enter the equation.
That is because, Soccer-Laduma report an agreement in principle has been reached between the player and the Glamour Boys!
