Former Orlando Pirates winger Thabo Rakhale is set for a comeback after spending a couple of months dealing with personal matters.

This was confirmed by the players’ agent Mandla Mthembu who said the dribbling wizard would be back in the professional ranks by January.

Currently, Rakhale is training with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Platinum City Rovers.

Rakhale was last seen donning the colours of Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership.

In February Rakhale was on the long list of players that were released by the club when they made wholesale changes. Since then, he has yet to find a team, but his agent is confident that Rakhale will find a new home in January.

Mthembu told SunSport: “The plan was to get him back in shape as he was out of action for some time. After leaving Sekhukhune, he had to attend to some personal matters.

“But he has dealt with that (personal issues), and he is now back working hard as we are looking for a team.

“He is training with the Championship club, and they have shown interest. We are also looking at some other better deals, we will then take a decision and make an announcement.”

At Sekhukhune, Rakhale made just seven appearances under coach MacDonald Makhubedu, and he has since been deemed surplus to requirements.

Since leaving Pirates in 2017, Rakhale has been moving to different teams including Chippa United and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila to mention a few.

If Rakhale joins City Rovers, he will reunite with his former Pirates teammate, Oupa Manyisa, who is in his second season playing for the First Division outfit.
