Kaizer Chiefs’ defender Edmilson Dove has reflected on his Man of the Match performance against Swallows.
Dove was awarded the DStv Man of the Match award on Wednesday night after a solid display for Amakhosi on Against Swallows.
The game was only Dove’s third match for Chiefs after he was joining the team at the start of August.
In his short time, at Naturena, the Mozambican international has grown into a key figure for Amakhosi, playing the full 90 minutes against SuperSport United, AmaZulu and Swallows.
Amakhosi went ahead in the first half thanks to goals from Caleb Bimenyimana and Keagan Dolly, but had a scare late in the game when Waseem Isaac scored for the hosts at looked as though as comeback was on the cards.
The 28-year-old defender admitted it wasn’t his side’s best performance.
“I mean it’s a game of mistakes and we keep improving each and every game,” he told the club’s media.
“We can only learn from our mistakes, but congratulations to the team for fighting from the first minute to the last.
“This [award] is for all of us, not only for myself. I’m just the one who went there to take it.”
Despite the game being at home to Swallows, Amakhosi supporters were in full voice and greatly outnumbered the home support in the stands.
“I want to thank the fans that support us through thick and thin, you guys are the best,” Dove added.
With the suspension of Zitha Kwinika, Dove is once again likely to start for Chiefs alongside either Siyabonga Ngezana or Njabulo Ngcobo when they take on Stellenbosch at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday.
