It has been reported that Kaizer Chiefs has offered their defender Eric Mathoho to their rivals Swallows Football Club.
According to The South African, Last-minute transfer madness has hit Kaizer Chiefs at Naturena as an Amakhosi legend Eric Mathoho has been offered to their Soweto rivals Swallows Football Club.
The only Amakhosi legends left standing at Naturena are Itumeleng Khune and Eric Mathoho.
It’s been an age since ‘Tower’ was not seen in the colours of Amakhosi.
Since his shocking blunders in last season’s DStv Premiership, Arthur Zwane has not selected the Amakhosi legend.
At 32, he is now a shadow of his former self. Mathoho has fallen down the pecking order at Chiefs with Zitha Kwinika and Njabulo Ngcobo now the established center-back pairing at Chiefs.
Now, he has offered to Amakhosi’s Soweto rivals.
In fact, Chiefs could close the deal before the end of the current transfer window.
“The shock news coming out of Naturena is that Chiefs have had unofficial talks with the Dube Birds about Mathoho possibly joining them before the end of the transfer window which slams shut on 22 September“ Soccer Laduma in their latest edition.
A move to Moroko Swallows would allow Mathoho to have more playing time while staying in Johannesburg, where he has grown up and currently lives.
Therefore, this move would bemefit both parties involved. Mathoho brings much-needed experience to the table at Swallows.
If the deal is complete, Mathoho could cost the Dube Birds up to R10.5 MILLION, according to Transfermarkt.
However, he could cost far less given his lack of game time and current form
The transfer deadline ends 22 September 2022.
This is one of the latest deals that could still happen before the transfer window closes. However, there is no guarantee it will.
