The incredible quality at Mamelodi Sundowns has left the club with at least another 10 players yet to feature this season despite having already used 27 players so far this season.

Sundowns have already used the most players compared to both their traditional rivals, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Chiefs have fielded 25 players in the league while Pirates have used 22.

With Sundowns already top of the standings despite having dropped eight points from eight matches, what is rather intimidating about their squad is the quality that they are yet to use.

In goals, only Ronwen Williams has played so far meaning the backup list of keepers has Kennedy Mweene, Denis Onyango, and Reyaad Pieterse.

Then in central defence, Rushine de Reuck and Brian Onyango have played the most football, but they still have Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil waiting for his chance.

Grant Kekana and Mosa Lebusa are the other options while Mothobi Mvala has also been used there in recent matches.

The situation at left-back is set to get interesting considering that Lyle Lakay, Aubrey Modiba, and Sifiso Ngobeni can play there but the club is reported to have also brought in Terrence Mashego having already loaned out Divine Lunga.

Thapelo Morena and Khuliso Mudau will take care of the right-back position without any issues with Kekana and Erwin Saavedra also capable of slotting in there.

Further up the field, Sundowns have Rivaldo Coetzee, Bongani Zungu, Kermit Erasmus, Lebohang Maboe, Gift Motupa, and the upcoming Ofentse Mashiane all yet to play.

The club has already used as many as 16 midfield options so far this season either as starters or substitutes.

As it stands the list of players yet to earn league minutes has Erasmus, Maboe, Zungu, Motupa, Coetzee, Onyango, Mweene, Pieterse, Boutouil, and Mashiane which is 10 players.

The Brazilians’ squad size has been influenced by the fact that they will be seeking to win their sixth consecutive league title while aiming to defend the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup with a mission to conquer in the CAF Champions League.
