Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has revealed why Njabulo Blom was dropped for the DStv Premiership match against AmaZulu.
The 22-year-old right-back has been the much talked about in media as he’s locked in contract renewal talks with the club.
Blom had already missed two games before Usuthu clash with his agent and the club seeking a way forward.
“It’s a case of competition. We know that Njabulo is a good player,” Zwane said after the match.
“We know that he’s going to come back at any given time. We know that he’s a hard worker by nature.
“So it’s a case of Soli [Dillan Solomons] doing very well and also giving other players that are doing well, creating that competition that’s in the squad. So very soon he’s going to come back.”
Prior to AmaZulu match, Zwane distanced himself from Blom’s contract talks but added that he wanted the best for him.
“I would like to focus more on what we are going to do in our game against AmaZulu,” Zwane said as quoted by TimesLIVE.
“The issue of Njabulo Blom, management will deal with it, and from our side as the technical staff we just want to focus more on what’s coming up over the weekend against AmaZulu.
“I treat all my boys with special care, we have come a long way, I love all of them and I want the best for them and I think it was one of those things where sometimes in football things go your way and sometimes they don’t.
“I will focus on what is going to happen on the weekend and leave this to the management.
“I want the best for all the players including ‘Mshini’ [Nkosingiphile Ngcobo] and Njabulo [Blom], but for now we must channel our efforts to winning games.
“There are still going to be more people who are going to come and talk and that’s part of the game.”
