Kaizer Chiefs head coach has confirmed who his ‘leading’ goalkeeper is going forward.

The Glamour Boys have already used three goalkeepers just six games into the new season.

Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen both featured in the DStv Premiership for Zwane’s side while Itumeleng Khune was thrown into action in the MTN8.

Khune made a return to the Kaizer Chiefs starting lineup for the first time in over a year in Sunday’s dramatic victory over Stellenbosch.

Zwane’s faith in Itumeleng Khune paid off with the legendary keeper making two crucial penalty saves.

The Amakhosi coach confirmed after the match that the former Bafana Bafana keeper’s form will see him ‘lead the team going forward’

“Like I said before, we really want to create competition in all departments.” the Kaizer Chiefs coach told KickOff.

“It was good for us to give him the opportunity today and he grabbed it with both hands.

“Yes, this is the Itumeleng Khune we want to see. This is the Khune that can lead the team going forward.

“He still has to up his game but he did very well today and I hope he keeps it that way.”

“We have a long way to go from where we want to be.” Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane told the club’s website before the match.

“We are getting closer in terms of our tactical discipline and our game approach.

“Players know their responsibilities and we’re working on our chemistry in the final third, which is something that is lacking.

“When you look at how many times we had box entries in our last game, I don’t think it was enough in comparison to how many we had against Maritzburg.

“We were on the right track until we lost two players and had to start all over again. Kaizer Chiefs need to get the best eleven out onto the field.

“In terms of understanding so we can work on it and perfect it and we had to then reshuffle things.

“You want to do that while you’re grinding out results, but we have that belief.”
