Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena says the club will soon make an announcement on the future of Kermit Erasmus, whose jersey number 11 was worn by debutant Marcelo Allende at Loftus on Wednesday evening.
Erasmus is in the final season of his contract with Sundowns and the Siya crew understands that he could make a move away from the club in the current transfer window, as he is looking to get regular game-time.
The former Orlando Pirates forward is yet to make an appearance for the club and chances of him getting into the team appear to be slim, following the arrivals of Abubeker Nasir and Allende.
Mokwena pointed to the fact that the likes of Rushine De Reuck and Teboho Mokoena have changed jersey numbers this season, as he brushed off the question on why Allende has taken over the number 11 from Erasmus.
Cape Town City is believed to be a possible destination for Erasmus.
“I am the wrong person to ask. The club will give you the information on that.
The club has not said anything and therefore everybody who is here and registered for Sundowns is here.
A lot of numbers have changed, but we have not asked that question before. Rushine (De Reuck) is wearing a different number.
Tebza is wearing a different number,” Mokwena said following Sundowns’ 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday.
“The club will make that communication. There is still some time. The club will make announcements in due course.”
