Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has explained why the club’s new signing Evidence Makgopa is yet to feature for the Buccaneers.

Riveiro was speaking to the media after his side’s 1-0 victory over Royal AM and revealed that Makgopa is injured.

“He is injured since, I’m not sure, but he is injured,” Riveiro said as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

The Spanish coach refused to reveal the kind of injury that the former Baroka striker has sustained.

“That’s private information I can’t (say),” he said.

However, according to Soccer Laduma, Makgopa “suffered an ankle injury in training and could be ruled out for up to six weeks.”

Other Orlando Pirates new signings – Miguel Timm, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Tapelo Xoki and Bienvenu Eva Nga – have all made their debuts under the leadership of Riveiro.

In other news, Jose Riveiro gave credit to his side’s “incredible” defence after the Buccaneers beat Royal AM 1-0 on Wednesday night at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Deon Hotto‘s solitary strike secured Orlando Pirates a second victory out of four DStv Premiership matches played this season.

Riveiro, who before the game was concerned about Bucs’ lack of goals, hailed his defence for their work at the back.
