Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly revealed that the players and technical team had a heart-to-heart conversation with Siyabonga Ngezana after the defender had a horror showing against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Ngezana gifted Sundowns their first two goals as Amakhosi recorded a 4-0 defeat in the DStv Premiership tie against the defending champions at the weekend.
Dolly echoed Arthur Zwane’s words of encouragement for the defender but insisted that they must limit the mistakes and create more goal-scoring opportunities to mount a challenge for trophies this season.
“It [support] started directly after the game, us as players, the coaching staff, and everyone assured him that it is part of the game and it is something that he needs to learn from,” Dolly told journalists during Chiefs Media open day at Naturena on Thursday.
“We are just here to help each other. This season it’s a brotherhood; we are in this together.
We explained to him [Ngezana] that we win together and lose together.”
Like the Chiefs coach, Zwane, Dolly has backed Ngezana to recover from the terrible blunders quickly, and the Bafana Bafana international made it clear that the 25-year-old centre has the full support of the club.
“Against Maritzburg, we were all celebrating as we won 3-0, against Sundowns, we had to take it.
It is part of football and part of our journey, we just need to minimise those mistakes and try to create more chances and score goals,” concluded Dolly.
The Soweto side will take on DStv Premiership newcomers Richards Bay in their next game on Saturday evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
