Bafana Bafana forward Luther Singh is set to bring a nightmare spell with Danish giants FC Copenhagen to an end before the transfer window closes.
Luther Singh’s spell at FC Copenhagen appears set to come to an end after sporting director Peter Christiansen confirmed the 25-year-old will leave before the transfer window closes.
Singh joined the Danish giants from the Portuguese side, SC Braga, at the start of last season but was restricted to just seven appearances after seeing his campaign blighted by Covid-19, injury and personal issues.
Now, the Stars of Africa academy graduate appears set to rebuild his career elsewhere with Copenhagen open to letting him leave on a permanent basis, although a loan deal also remains a possibility.
“Luther is off to look at an opportunity and I think that will also be the best thing right now for him, in terms of getting closer to playing time,” Christiansen told Copenhagen Sundays. “He also needs to play after a personally tough year.
“…I can say that he is one of the players who has had the most interest, actually, because people can’t understand why he hasn’t played more in FC Copenhagen, but that also says something about what kind of quality we have and what is before him.
“But this is a player who played fantastically for South Africa and who had a really good season before we brought him here, so he is definitely not forgotten out there and there are many who are watching him, and if they can link him, so let’s see now.”
To date, Singh has spent his entire professional career in Europe where he has enjoyed spells in Sweden, Portugal and Denmark, recording 36 goals and 21 assists in a combined 172 games.
