Kaizer Chiefs Football Club will begin the Dstv Premiership 2022-23 season with only local players – for the first tme after a long time.
According to The South African, Arthur Zwane has decided to go local in the upcoming season.
However, there are some players from foreign countries who can still join the club since the June transfer window is still open.
Khama Billiat was born in Zimbabwe, but after playing in the Premier Soccer League for a long time. He holds the South African citizenship, making him one of the local players now.
Kaizer Chiefs parted ways with foreign players like Lazarous Kambole, Samir Nurkovic, Daniel Akpeyi, Antony Akumu Agay and Leo Castro when the 2021-22 season came to an end.
However, the likes of Leo Castro and Daniel Akpeyi already had South African citizenship. Meaning they were now registered as local players.
The Mozambiquian defender Edmilson Dove is currently on trials at Amakhosi, if he ends up joining the Glamour boys on a permanent deal, he will might be the only foreign player in the club.
Amakhosi will play their first match of the season today when they visit the KwaZulu-Natal side, Royal AM Football Club.
Kick Off time is 5:30pm at Chartsworth Stadium.
