Kaizer Chiefs outcast Anthony Akumu has reportedly attracted interest from Tanzanian giants Simba SC who have long wanted to sign him.
Akumu was recently transfer-listed by Chiefs after what was a disappointing season that saw him spend the better part of the season out in the stands.
This was soon after the appointment of Zwane as head coach, and given that Akumu hasn’t given Chiefs much since joining them two seasons ago, the club made him available for teams that may be interested.
Akumu was transfer-listed simply because he still has a year left on his deal otherwise chances of him leaving Chiefs permanently were huge.
Now, reports coming out of Tanzania claim that Simba are already in talks with Chiefs over the possibility of signing Akumu.
Simba had long wanted Akumu to themselves even during his days with Zambian giants ZESCO United in 2019.
However, it was Chiefs who won the race to sign him, and thus Akumu became the first Kenyan player to sign for the Soweto giants.
The reports further suggest that Simba want Akumu to replace Pascal Wawa who is expected to leave them for greener pastures in the next few weeks.
