It has been reported by Soccer-laduma that Amakhosi have overtaken their arch rivals Orlando Pirates in the chase for a sought after midfielder, the Siya crew can reveal.

It was in April this year that Soccer-laduma first reported of Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in Swallows midfielder George Matlou.

Talks around a possible deal slowed down due the Birds’ precarious position on the DStv Premiership standings at the time.

The crew subsequently reported in edition 1276 of Soccer Laduma that Pirates have also made enquiries into the 23-year-old midfielder, while there is also European interest in his services.

But, the latest news reaching the crew’s desk is that Chiefs are in the lead to land Matlou!

According to Soccer-laduma sources, Amakhosi are in advanced talks to land the former Bidvest Wits academy product and as things stand, are in a more favourable position to land the lanky attacker.

Indications are that Matlou could be the third Swallows player heading to Naturena, following his teammates Dillon Solomons and Kamohelo Mahlatsi who are also understood to be on their way to Chiefs.
