Residents from Delft are shocked after a partially charred body of a 12-year-old boy was found dumped in an open veld on Wednesday, 2 October.
They said around 2pm, some kids, coming from school, made the gruesome discovery.

“You can imagine how traumatised these kids were from witnessing such an incident,” said resident, Lelethu Manyatela.
She said when she went to the scene, she was also shocked to see how the body had been mutilated.
“I saw the boy trending on social media on Tuesday, saying he went missing while playing with his friends. I didn’t bother to check where exactly he was from, but I could easily identify that he was the missing boy,” Lelethu said.
Police spokesman Captain Frederick Van Wyk said Delft police are still investigating circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
He said Delft police registered a murder following the discovery of the burned body of a 12-year-old boy on an open veld in Renoster Street, Leiden, Delft.
Van Wyk said according to reports, police received a complaint from Radio Control about the discovery of a body at the mentioned address. On arrival, they found the body mutilated and burnt.

“Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. Motive for the murder is now the subject of an investigation by the South African Police Service.”
“No arrest has been made as the suspect/s are unknown at this stage. Anyone with information about this incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app,” Van Wyk said.
